Project Overview

Gough Group were the holder of the Caterpillar Distribution licence for New Zealand. Gough Group began in 1929 as Gough, Gough & Hamer Ltd. In 1932 they secured the Caterpillar franchise, and by 1938 were leading the world in sales outside the United States. With an incredible reputation, Gough grew and acquired while expanding their local operations. In the 1960's Gough’s developed the first computerised distribution network in Australasia.

ME was engaged as independent consultants to work on a a variety of project including implementing the Caterpillar dealer business system utilised globally by all Caterpillar dealers, comprising SAP Finance, Exact Rental System and CRM, develop a profitable business plan for the Cat Rental Store and restructure Gough Engineering.

Duration: 2002 - 2004

Outcomes:

  • Successfully interpreted business requirements and minimised customisation

  • Designed, built and implemented the Caterpillar Dealer Business System into Goughs working with Accenture as the SI

  • Implemented the first Oracle Financial Accounting Hub into Australia with all Policy Admin systems interfacing at a transactional level

  • Cat Rental Store operating model was fundamentally changed to enable the business to return to profitability
